Elements & History

IRON: The actual date when iron was discovered is not known.  However, iron can date back to 3000 B.C.  We know this because artifacts of iron were found.  Also, an iron pillar from India can be dated back to 400 A.D.

POTASSIUM: Back in the day, Potassium was thought of as Sodium.  People did not know that there were in fact two elements, not one.  Sir Humphry Davy, of England, discovered Potassium through the process of electrolysis.  Potassium was the first metal, ever, to be isolated through the process of electrolysis.

NITROGEN: Unlike iron, we know when nitrogen was found.  The year was 1772 and the man was Daniel Rutherford from Scotland.  Their lead on nitrogen was from another gas, oxygen.  They knew that oxygen had another gas, Nitrogen.

URANIUM: Uranium can date back to 79 A.D.  Martin Klaproth discovered it in Germany in the year of 1789.  He named it Uranium after the recently discovered planet, Uranus.  Uranium metal wasn’t isolated until 1841 by Eugene - Melchoir Peligot.  Henri Becquerel in 1896 discovered its radioactivity.
